The A5 is a major trunk route between London and Anglesey and like many of the UK’s trunk roads has become increasingly congested.
This had become the case at a small village in Shropshire, Nescliffe, which also contains a small military barracks.
Once a bypass had been approved, there was a requirement to build a bridge over the new road to maintain access on an existing public right of way.
OCS Structural Plastics were chosen to build and install the bridge using Structural Fibreglass, due to their expertise in construction in structural fibreglass materials, which offer light weight and corrosion resistance against UV, general weather exposure and the aggressive winter conditions caused by salt spray generated by passing vehicles below. In addition, the low weight means far quicker installation times than traditional steel or concrete structures.
Structural Fibreglass construction and the expertise of OCS structural Plastics lead to a bridge of attractive appearance that will stand the test of time.
